We celebrate at the beautiful beach pavillon Brooklyn Beach in the Netherlands! You'll find us in the westernmost corner of the Netherlands in the region Walcheren. It is known as the most beautiful beach in the Netherlands :-)
Address: Schelpweg 30, 4367 BP Domburg, The Netherlands
Saturday, June 29th, 2019
Beginning: 14:30 (2.30pm)
The beach pavillon is located 2km west of Domburg. Take the road westbound to Westkapelle. There is a large parking lot (free of charge) just behind the golf course underneath the dunes.
Follow the stairs up to the dunes. At the top, turn right and walk about 100m to get to the beach club. On foot or bike, you can also follow the nice footpath on the dunes from Domburg.
From the east or the south-east (e.g., from Germany), first head to Bergen op Zoom and then take the highway A58 to Middelburg. From there, follow the signs to Domburg.
From the north (mainly from the Netherlands, e.g. from Amsterdam or Rotterdam), you can take road N57 via dykes and bridges directly to Domburg.
From the south-west (e.g., from Belgium/France/Luxembourg), drive via Gent to Terneuzen and cross the Westerschelde on road N62. Continue to Middelburg and then, no surprises, to Domburg.
The closest airport is Antwerp (Belgium, airport code ANR). It's only 100km (only about 1h 15min by rental car) from there to the location. Unfortunately, only few airlines fly to Antwerp and the last one with direct connections from Zurich discontinued its service in Sept. 2018 (we will update this information if anything new comes up!).
The two next-best options are Brussels, Rotterdam and Amsterdam (Schiphol). Brussels (Belgium, code BRU) is 140km or about 1h 30mins by car and Rotterdam (Netherlands, code RTM) is 100km and equally 1h 30 mins by car. Amsterdam (Schiphol, code AMS) is 150km, 2hrs by car.
Take the train to Middelburg (14km from the location). From there, you can take a bus (numbers 52 or 647) to Domburg. The Dutch public transportation homepage 9292 has further details and the latest updates on the current traffic situation.
If groups of guests are interested in public transport, we offer to organize a taxi / pick-up service. Just let us know in the registration form or by direct message.
The Walcheren area is a popular and family-friendly holiday destination (after all, it is proudly bearing its award of being the most beautiful beach of the Netherlands) and towards end of June the summer season is already in full swing. Most hotels and B&Bs only take reservations for at least two nights or more and rooms are booked out quickly.
Therefore, please book you accommodation as early as possible!
We reserved a contingent of rooms in two hotels in Domburg. Please find some information below and let us know if you are interested in any of them.
The good news is that there are many different options in the vicinity: hotels, bed & breakfasts, a hostel, bungalows and holiday apartments (perfect for families or groups of friends, especially should you plan a few days of follow-on stay), and camp sites. Private B&Bs bedandbreakfast.nl. They can really be quite nice, too.

The province's capital (50'000 inhabitants), which thus offers a greater choice of hotels. Please check your favorite travel homepage. It is possible to find something for 1 night here. Another valid alternative could be the town Veere.
There's no dress code. Please wear whatever you feel comfortable with! Rumors are the groom doesn't like wearing ties anyway...
Remember #1: It's a beach wedding - this means that there will be lots of sand and lots of wind! Please don't say we didn't warn you, ladies, when packing high heels, floaty dresses, and spending hours on sophisticated hair styles.
Remember #2: We are in the Netherlands, not on Bali or the Bahamas. Of course we all hope for a nice and sunny summer day with 30 degrees ending in a lovely sundown, but the truth is that it may also be 16 degrees and thunderstorms! So please check the weather forecast and bring a (rain) jacket if necessary. Umbrellas don't agree with North Sea winds.
Well, Rieke used to come here (to Oostkapelle, to be precise) every year since she was a baby.
And we spent our very first holiday as couple in Walcheren, too! Since 2008, we've come here many times and always look forward to fietsen, friets and frikadel speciaal :-).
Plus, ever since our Bachelor study days in Maastricht, we just like the Netherlands and Dutch with their friendly, uncomplicated way.
We thus fell in love with the idea of getting married in the country where we met more than 10 (soon 11) years ago.
